Katrina Breach:
On August 29, 2005, one of the deadliest and costliest natural disasters in United States history hit the southern shores of Louisiana. Hurricane Katrina caused great damage to much of the north-central Gulf Coast, especially New Orleans. Prior to the storm, six barges were moored by Lafarge North America, in front of its facility by the Industrial Canal. Two of them were owned by Ingram and at the time, being operated by Lafarge. Lafarge had finished offloading one of the barges less than 48 hours before Katrina’s arrival. Prior to the storm, Lafarge had been warned to move the barge from the Industrial Canal, but the barge remained at the Lafarge dock. As anticipated, the barge was unable to sustain the storm that hit the coast of Louisiana with winds upwards of 100 miles per hour and eventually broke away from its moorings. The barge headed straight for the eastern Industrial Canal Floodwall, allegedly causing it to breach on impact. The breach in the Canal caused a massive surge of water to be released into the neighborhood below, destroying everything in its path. Residents had only a few seconds to react and many lives were lost. With waters reaching heights up to 20 feet, the damage was immense. Water traveled for miles, devastating the Lower Ninth Ward and western parts of St. Bernard Parish. Residents from this area lost their property, jobs, sustained injuries, or were killed, and have since not been able to return to the area.

Kermadec Wave:
The Kermadec Islands are often rocked by severe quakes. In July 2011, a massive M 7.6 earthquake struck in the open sea in the Kermadec Island region. Tsunami waves were generated in the area near the quake. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center did issue a Tsunami alert for Tonga or New Zealand. It was later canceled without any real tsunami.

Kidnaps A Child:
In criminal law, kidnapping is the taking away or transportation of a child against the child's will or without parental consent, or legal authority. This may be done for ransom or in furtherance of another crime, or in connection with a child custody dispute.

Killing A Child:
Feticide: causing the death of a fetus
Filicide: to kill one's own daughter or son
Homicide: taking the life of another
Infanticide: killing of an infant

Kilowatt:
In 2000, rolling blackouts in California made front-page news. The state's electric bill had gone from seven billion in 1999 to 27 million dollars in 2000. A 40-dollar kilowatt hour now cost as much as 1,900 dollars. The reason for the shortage, though, was unclear. Within the Bush administration, many argued that past government regulation restricted the market from responding to the crisis. Others, including Governor Gray Davis, believed Enron and Duke Power were squeezing the market. Complaints and lawsuits were filed, accusing these companies of manipulating markets to increase profits. At the bottom of the crisis lay the deregulation of many power plants that allowed third parties to act as power-supply brokers. When private companies assumed ownership of power plants in California and other states, they were free to sell kilowatt-hours to companies like Enron. Enron, in turn, sold the kilowatts on the open market for the going price.

King Henry:
Henry VIII was King of England from 21 April 1509 until his death. Henry VIII was a significant figure in the history of the English monarchy. Although in the great part of his reign he brutally suppressed the influence of the Protestant Reformation in England, he is more popularly known for his role in the separation of the Church of England from the Roman Catholic Church. Henry's struggles with Rome ultimately led to the separation of the Church of England from papal authority, the Dissolution of the Monasteries, and establishing himself as the Supreme Head of the Church of England. King of Beers:
Budweiser is a 5.0% abv pale lager introduced in 1876 by Adolphus Busch and one of the highest selling beers in the United States. It is made with up to 30% rice in addition to hops and barley malt. Budweiser has been called "The Beer of Kings" since the 16th century. Adolphus Busch changed this slogan to "The King of the Beers".

God commands Christians to avoid drunkenness: "And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit" (Eph.5:18). The Bible condemns drunkenness and its effects: "Who hath woe? who hath sorrow? who hath contentions? who hath babbling? who hath wounds without cause? who hath redness of eyes? They that tarry long at the wine; they that go to seek mixed wine. Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright. At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder. Thine eyes shall behold strange women, and thine heart shall utter perverse things. Yea, thou shalt be as he that lieth down in the midst of the sea, or as he that lieth upon the top of a mast. They have stricken me, shalt thou say, and I was not sick; they have beaten me, and I felt it not: when shall I awake? I will seek it yet again" (Prov. 23:29-35). Christians are also commanded to not allow their bodies to be “mastered” by anything (1 Cor. 6:12; 2 Peter 2:19).

King Otto:
Otto I the Great (23 November 912 in Wallhausen – 7 May 973 in Memleben), son of Henry I the Fowler and Matilda of Ringelheim, was Duke of Saxony, King of Germany, King of Italy, and "the first of the Germans to be called the emperor of Italy" according to Arnulf of Milan. On February 2, 962, Pope John XII crowned Otto I as the Holy Roman Emperor. When Otto succeeded his father Heinrich (Henry) as German king in 936, the people raised their right hand to show approval and shouted "Sieg und heil" ("victory and salvation"). Most historians view 962 as the beginning of what would later officially be known as the Sacrum Romanum Imperium Nationis Germanica ("the Holy Roman Empire of the German Nation"). Otto I the Great was the "First Reich," Otto von Bismarck's was the "Second Reich," and Adolf Hitler's was the "Third Reich".

Kissinger:
Henry Alfred Kissinger (born May 27, 1923), is a German-born American political scientist, diplomat, and recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize. He served as National Security Advisor and later concurrently as Secretary of State in the Nixon Administration. Kissinger is criticized and even accused of war crimes for the policies he promoted during the Vietnam War and for his role in the establishment of dictatorial regimes in Latin America.

Knighthood:
In the medieval times, many knights rode out to do battle. They made sieges on other castles, headlong charges into bloody battles, and defended their own castles against sieges.

Koch Energy:
Koch Industries is a major polluter. During the 1990s, its faulty pipelines were responsible for more than 300 oil spills in five states, prompting a landmark penalty of $35 million from the Environmental Protection Agency. In Minnesota, it was fined an additional $8 million for discharging oil into streams. During the months leading up to the 2000 presidential elections, the company faced even more liability, in the form of a 97-count federal indictment charging it with concealing illegal releases of 91 metric tons of benzene, a known carcinogen, from its refinery in Corpus Christi, Texas. Republican Ties: If convicted, the company would have faced fines of up to $352 million, plus possible jail time for company executives. After George W. Bush became president, however, the U.S. Justice Department dropped 88 of the charges. Two days before the trial, John Ashcroft settled for a plea bargain, in which Koch pled guilty to falsifying documents. All major charges were dropped, and Koch and Ashcroft settled the lawsuit for a fraction of that amount. Koch had contributed $800,000 to the Bush election campaign and other Republican candidates. Alex Beehler, assistant deputy under secretary of defense for Environment, Safety and Occupational Health, previously served at Koch as director of environmental and regulatory affairs and concurrently served at the Charles G. Koch Foundation as vice president for environmental projects. Beehler was later nominated and re-nominated by the Bush White House, to become the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Inspector General.

Kolbrin Bible:
The Kolbrin Bible is a secular anthology of ancient manuscripts said to have been salvaged from the Glastonbury Abbey arson in 1184. The Kolbrin Bible is likely a literary hoax and has been denounced as a heretical work for millennia because it contains alternate historical accounts of the Exodus and Noah's Flood.

Lake Natron:
This body of water is one of the most inhospitable areas on earth. Colored a deep red from salt-loving organisms and algae, the lake reaches hellish temperatures and is nearly as basic as ammonia.

Due to salt-loving microorganisms that live in the alkali salt crust of the lake's surface, the lake is often red or pink in colour. The lake is also the only breeding site for 2.5 million Lesser Flamingoes, because the caustic environment is a barrier against predators trying to reach the flamingoes' nests.

The color of the lake is characteristic of those where very high evaporation rates occur. As water evaporates during the dry season, salinity levels increase to the point that salt-loving microoranisms begin to thrive. These salt-loving organisms include some cyanobacteria - tiny bacteria that grow in water and make their own food with photosynthesis as plants do. The red pigment in the cyanobacteria produces the deep reds of the open water of the lake, and orange colors of the shallow parts of the lake.

The lake has been a source of fantastical stories that seem stranger than fiction. People Magazine calls Natron “a lake in Africa that turns all animals who come in contact with it to stone.” Contrary to popular belief, Lake Natron does NOT instantly turn Birds to stone. Photographer Nick Brandt took photographs depicting petrified birds on perches and in naturalistic poses as if they had just turned to stone. The photos were staged. Brandt said as much in an e-mail to NBC news: ”I unexpectedly found the creatures — all manner of birds and bats — washed up along the shoreline of Lake Natron in Northern Tanzania[...] I took these creatures as I found them on the shoreline, and then placed them in ‘living’ positions, bringing them back to ‘life.’”

Secondly, the birds are not “stone,” per se. The chemical process to which they were subjected is much closer to Egyptian mummification than anything else, and although the bodies appear chalky and stone-like in appearance, but they are not completely immovable.

Lamb Condom:
Lamb condoms made from intestinal membrane of a lamb, labeled "lambskin". They have been clinically shown to be ineffective in protecting against viruses that cause Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI formerly STD). Small pores (or holes) in the lambskin condoms allow infectious agents to pass through.

Land of Liars:
"Lord, Lord, how this world is given to lying!" ~ Shakespeare, Henry IV

The truth is, everyone lies. Deny it, and you would be lying to yourself. We live in a land of liars. In the Land of Pinocchio, noses are growing. People lie to potential mates: "Nothing's wrong, I'm fine. No that outfit doesn't make you look fat. Sorry I missed your call, my phone died. I'm stuck in traffic. I'm on my way. I've got a headache." Parents lie to thier children: "There is a Santa Claus, but he'll only visit you if you're good. Looks don’t matter; it’s what’s on the inside that counts. If you keep making that face, your face will stay that way. The stork brought you to us. Mommy and daddy are taking a nap." Retailers lie to customers: "These are the lowest prices in the history of our store. This sale is the best we've had and will never be repeated." Politicians lie, lawyers lie, salesmen lie, and the list goes on.

Lying involves a decision. In the space of 800 milliseconds or so, we decide to inhibit a truthful response and give a deceptive response to a question.

Lying is unnatural because the function of speech is to communicate to others what is in our minds. When we use words to mislead others, we are using them contrary to their proper function.

Because lying is an unnatural act, the body will respond respectively against this act in measurable and predictable ways. Whether the liar is shifting his eyes, tapping his foot, stuttering, sweating, or asking for water (the mouth becomes dry when you lie), he is prone to unconscious gestures that expose his true intentions.

A lying tongue is not only something God hates, it is also something that is an abomination to Him. According to the Bible: "These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren" (Prov.6:16-19).

Christians must be people who speak truth. Ephesians 4:25 says, “Wherefore, putting away falsehood, speak ye truth each one with his neighbor: for we are members one of another.” The context of Ephesians four tells us that speaking truth is part of what it means to be a new creation in Christ; it is at the heart of being a Christian. Colossians 3:9 parallels Ephesians; “ Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds.” See To Tell A Lie

Laodicea Church:
This church was spiritually arrogant in its self-satisfaction. It was the only church about which Christ had nothing good to say. The church thought of itself as rich and in need of nothing from Christ. The Laodicean church was spiritually blind. Of course, its members thought they could see clearly - thought that they were rich and without any needs. But Christ counseled them to apply a spiritual eye-salve so that they could see how far they had fallen. In short, they needed to be earnest and repent.

Laser Attack:
The general idea of laser-beam weaponry is to hit a target with a train of brief pulses of light. The rapid evaporation and expansion of the surface causes shockwaves that damage the target. Lasers of all but the lowest powers can potentially be used as incapacitating weapons, through their ability to produce temporary or permanent vision loss in varying degrees when aimed at the eyes. The U.S. Air Force is currently working on the YAL-1 airborne laser, mounted in a Boeing 747, to shoot down enemy ballistic missiles over enemy territory. In 2009, Northrop Grumman announced that its engineers in Redondo Beach had successfully built and tested an electric laser capable of producing a 100-kilowatt ray of light, powerful enough to destroy an airplane or a tank.

Laser Light:
Light amplification by stimulated emission of radiation (LASER or laser) is a mechanism for emitting electromagnetic radiation, typically light or visible light, via the process of stimulated emission. The emitted laser light is (usually) a spatially coherent, narrow low-divergence beam, that can be manipulated with lenses. In laser technology, "coherent light" denotes a light source that produces (emits) light of in-step waves of identical frequency and phase.

Lateran Pact:
The Lateran Treaty is also called the Lateran Pact of 1929. It was a treaty (effective 1929 to 1985) between Italy and the Vatican. It was signed by Benito Mussolini for the Italian government and by cardinal secretary of state Pietro Gasparri for the papacy and confirmed by the Italian constitution of 1948. Upon ratification of the Lateran Treaty, the papacy recognized the state of Italy, with Rome as its capital. Italy in return recognized papal sovereignty over the Vatican City, a minute territory of 44 hectares (109 acres), and secured full independence for the pope. A number of additional measures were agreed upon. Article 1, for example, gave the city of Rome a special character as the "centre of the Catholic world and place of pilgrimage." Article 20 stated that all bishops were to take an oath of loyalty to the state and had to be Italian subjects speaking the Italian language. By article 34 the state recognized the validity of Catholic marriage and its subjection to the provisions of canon law; nullity cases were therefore reserved to the ecclesiastical courts, and there could be no divorce. The state agreed by article 36 of the concordat to permit religious instruction in the public primary and secondary schools and conceded to the bishops the right to appoint or dismiss those who imparted such instruction and to approve the textbooks that they used. With the signing of the concordat of 1985, Roman Catholicism was no longer the state religion of Italy. This change in status brought about a number of alterations in Italian society. Perhaps the most significant of these was the end to compulsory religious education in public schools. The new concordat also affected such diverse areas as tax exemptions for religious institutions and ownership of the Jewish catacombs.

Lava Flows:
A lava flow is a moving outpouring of lava, which is created during a non-explosive effusive eruption. When it has stopped moving, lava solidifies to form igneous rock. Lava flows are enormously destructive to property in their path but generally move slowly enough for people to get out of their way, though this is dependent on the viscosity of the lava; casualties caused directly by active lava flows are rare. Nevertheless injuries and deaths have occurred, either because people had their escape route cut off, because they got too close to the flow or, more rarely, if the lava flow front traveled too quickly.

Left-Handed Men:
Left handed men refer to followers of the Left hand path. Left hand path practices are associated with Satanism, Setian, black magic, etcetera. Left hand followers often reject societal convention and the status quo, which some suggest is in a search for spiritual freedom. As a part of this, Left hand path followers embrace magical techniques that would traditionally be viewed as taboo, for instance using homosexual sex magic or embracing Satanic imagery. Left hand path followers often question religious or moral dogma, instead adhering to forms of personal anarchism. They also embrace sexuality and incorporate it into magical ritual. Within the Left Hand Path, the self is god, or the center of consciousness. It can be said that the left hand path is self serving. It stresses self-importance, self-absorption, self-indulgence, ecetera. Followers of the Left Hand Path have left God. They reject God and the teachings of the Bible.

I am my own God
Master slave and I will be beyond the grave
No one will take my soul away
I carry my own will and make my day
I am my own God
See the truth beyond
Through endless lies thy kingdom come
Glorified wisdom illumination tool
Self deceit it's the golden rule
Live your life you're gonna die your own death
There's no one above that's gonna take your breath
I dip my forefinger in the watery blood
Of your impotent redeemer
And write over his thorn torn brow
The true Prince of Evil
What man's created
Man can destroy

Left-Handed Obama:
For thousands of years, the Devil has been associated with the left hand in various ways and is normally portrayed as being left-handed in pictures and other images. In the seventeenth century it was thought that the Devil baptized his followers with his left-hand and there are many references to the “left-hand side” being associated with evil.

In the past hundred years, the U.S. presidency has veered more and more to the left — not in policy, but in handedness. James Garfield, Herbert Hoover, Henry Truman, Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton were all left-handed. In the 1992 election, all three major candidates – George H. W. Bush, Bill Clinton and Ross Perot – were left-handed. The 1996 election also involved three left-handed candidates: Clinton, Perot, and Bob Dole, who learned to use his left hand after his right hand was paralyzed by a World War II injury. The elections of both 2000 and 2004 featured major-party left-handed candidates (Al Gore and John Kerry as well as John Edwards). Additionally, both major-party candidates in the 2008 presidential election – Barack Obama and John McCain – were left-handed. President Barack Obama is the latest to join a long list of left-handed presidents.

Legend Movie:
"What is Light, without Dark? I am a part of you all. You can never defeat me. We are brothers, eternal." ~ Lord of Darkness

Legend is a 1985 fantasy film released by 20th Century Fox in Europe and Universal Pictures in the United States and Canada, directed by Ridley Scott and starring Tom Cruise and Mia Sara. The story is set "once, long ago" in a world of unicorns, fairies, goblins, and demons. Hidden in a dark lair, the antagonist, the Lord of Darkness (Tim Curry) instructs his goblin servant Blix (Alice Playten) to locate the two unicorns that roam in the nearby forest and remove their horns. If the unicorns die and their horns are removed, the Lord of Darkness can ensure that dawn never again breaks, and sunshine never returns.

Levee Sea Breach: See Katrina Breach

Leviathans:
Leviathans refer to sea monsters in the Holy Bible. In Demonology, Leviathan is one of the seven princes of Hell and its gatekeeper. According to legend, the Leviathan was a fire-breathing creature of such immense size that the sea boils when it swims on the surface. It ruthlessly and fearlessly rules over all the creatures of the sea.

The Book of Job states: "Canst thou draw out leviathan with an hook? or his tongue with a cord which thou lettest down Canst thou put an hook into his nose? or bore his jaw through with a thorn? will he make many supplications unto thee? will he speak soft words unto thee? will he make a covenant with thee? wilt thou take him for a servant for ever? wilt thou play with him as with a bird? or wilt thou bind him for thy maidens? shall the companions make a banquet of him? shall they part him among the merchants? Canst thou fill his skin with barbed irons? or his head with fish spears. Lay thine hand upon him, remember the battle, do no more. Behold, the hope of him is in vain: shall not one be cast down even at the sight of him? None is so fierce that dare stir him up: who then is able to stand before me? Who hath prevented me, that I should repay him? whatsoever is under the whole heaven is mine. I will not conceal his parts, nor his power, nor his comely proportion. Who can discover the face of his garment? or who can come to him with his double bridle? Who can open the doors of his face? his teeth are terrible round about. His scales are his pride, shut up together as with a close seal. One is so near to another, that no air can come between them. They are joined one to another, they stick together, that they cannot be sundered. By his neesings a light doth shine, and his eyes are like the eyelids of the morning. Out of his mouth go burning lamps, and sparks of fire leap out. Out of his nostrils goeth smoke, as out of a seething pot or caldron. His breath kindleth coals, and a flame goeth out of his mouth. In his neck remaineth strength, and sorrow is turned into joy before him. The flakes of his flesh are joined together: they are firm in themselves; they cannot be moved. His heart is as firm as a stone; yea, as hard as a piece of the nether millstone. When he raiseth up himself, the mighty are afraid: by reason of breakings they purify themselves. The sword of him that layeth at him cannot hold: the spear, the dart, nor the habergeo. He esteemeth iron as straw, and brass as rotten wood. The arrow cannot make him flee: slingstones are turned with him into stubble. Darts are counted as stubble: he laugheth at the shaking of a spear. Sharp stones are under him: he spreadeth sharp pointed things upon the mire. He maketh the deep to boil like a pot: he maketh the sea like a pot of ointment. He maketh a path to shine after him; one would think the deep to be hoary. Upon earth there is not his like, who is made without fear. He beholdeth all high things: he is a king over all the children of pride" (Job 41:1-34).

Liberal Heart:
A person of left-wing or liberal views (i.e. of helping the poor, siding with the oppressed) who is deemed to be excessively soft-hearted.

Libya Riot:
Libya has been tightly controlled by leader Muammar Gaddafi for over 40 years. In February 2011, hundreds of people clashed with police and government supporters overnight in the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi. After six days of unrest in the country and bloody clashes, The International Federation of Human Rights puts an estimate on the death toll at up to 400.

Life Addiction:
A life addiction spans over the course of time and affects a persons day-to-day activities. It is the continued participation in an activity or use of a substance despite its detrimental effects. An addiction can be characterized as a compulsive behavior or preoccupation with an activity or substance to the exclusion of all other things. The term "addiction" is used in many contexts to describe an obsession, compulsion, or excessive psychological dependence, such as: drug addiction (e.g. alcoholism), nicotine addiction, problem gambling, crime, money, work addiction, compulsive overeating, computer addiction, video game addiction, pornography addiction, etc.

Liquors:
Liquor is an alcoholic beverage that is distilled. See Distillate

Lisbon Pact:
The Treaty of Lisbon or Lisbon Treaty (initially known as the Reform Treaty) is an international agreement that amends the two treaties which comprise the constitutional basis of European Union (EU). It amends the Treaty on European Union (TEU; also known as the Maastricht Treaty) and the Treaty establishing the European Community (TEC; also known as the Treaty of Rome). The Lisbon Treaty represents a huge transfer of powers away from EU member states and is bad news for Europe. In more than 60 areas of policy, countries lose the right to veto legislation they disagree with on everything from transport to the rights of criminal suspects and aspects of foreign policy. Britain would lose nearly 30% of its power to block legislation it disagrees with, while Ireland would lose 40%. The President of the German Constitutional Court has said the treaty's provisions for national parliaments are "ineffective" and "impractical".

Lives Nude:
And when Moses saw that the people were naked; (for Aaron had made them naked unto their shame among their enemies:) Then Moses . . . said, Who is on the Lord's side? . .. —Exodus, 32: 25-26. And if a man shall take his sister, his father's daughter, or his mother's daughter, and see her nakedness, and she see his nakedness; it is a wicked thing. ... — Leviticus, 20: 17. I counsel thee to buy . . . white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear. . . . —Revelation, 3: 18. In the Bible there are nearly 100 such references to nakedness. With few exceptions, the Bible presents nakedness as shameful and degrading.

If God approved of people being nude, He would not have clothed Adam and Eve after they sinned, thus making it a reminder to man that we had, in fact, sinned. In Chapter 3 of The Book of Genesis, after Adam and Eve ate the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, they become aware of their nakedness and covered themselves in shame. When they sinned, “the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked” (Gen. 3:7). Never before had they realized they were unclothed—the concepts of “clothed” and “unclothed” were meaningless to them. Sin affected their hearts and minds, creating vulnerability, guilt, and shame, and these things produced fear (v 10). In their attempt to cover their spiritual shame, Adam and Eve intuitively covered their bodies. In the beginning Adam and Eve were innocent in their nakedness, but after the fall they lost their innocence.

The innocence of Eden is gone. We live in a harsh environment with a harsh climate. Clothes can help protect your body. We use it to cover our bodies so that we can remain protected from the elements such as the harsh sun, cold wind, and more.

Living Moai:
Ever since Dutch explorers found Easter island in 1722, people have wondered how the Rapanui, the island's native inhabitants, were able to transport the hundreds of huge sculptures from the quarry where they were carved to stone platforms throughout the island, all without the use of wheels or draft animals.

Over the last sixty years, scientists have theorized that the Rapanui moved the moai -- some of which are as tall as 33 feet and weigh more than 80 tons -- using various methods, from strapping the statues to tree trunks and dragging them on the ground to rolling them on sleds over felled trees.

In the Rapanui oral tradition, the moai were animated by mana, a spiritual force transmitted by powerful ancestors. A 25-year-old Rapanui man told National Geographic, “The experts can say whatever they want, but we know the truth. The statues walked.”

Lizard Alien:
Reptilians (also called Reptiloids, Reptoids, or Draconians) are purported reptilian humanoids that play a prominent role in modern ufology and conspiracy theories. Alien abduction narratives sometimes allege contact with reptilian creatures. One of the earliest reports was that of Ashland, Nebraska police officer Herbert Schirmer, who claims to have been taken aboard a UFO in 1967 by humanoid beings with a slightly reptilian appearance, who bore a "winged serpent" emblem on the left side of their chests.

Lord Jay-Z:
"Allow me to re-introduce myself. My name is Hov'" ~ Jay-Z "Public Service Announcement"

Jay-Z has long had the nickname “Jay-Hova” (often shortened to “Hova” or “Hov”), as a pun on Jehovah, the English transliteration of God’s name in the Hebrew Bible. Jay-Z (born Shaun Carter) got the nickname back in 1993, when he borrowed some studio time and was recording some of his first tracks. The other people in the studio marveled to discover that Jay-Z was improvising all his lyrics, and decided that his ability was nothing short of miraculous. So they dubbed him J-Hova. He is often been called "The God MC."

In Hebrew, Je or Jeh or Jah is the shortened form of the name YHWH or Yah. It means Lord or God. The suffix “hovah” is No. 1943 in Strong’s Hebrew Dictionary and has the meaning of “ruin, mischief.” It is another form of No. 1942, ‘havvah’, which is translated “calamity, iniquity, mischief, mischievous (thing), naughtiness, naughty, noisome, perverse thing, substance, very wickedness.” Put the two (Je + hovah) together and you get “God of ruin, mischief, calamity, perversion, and wickedness”. And don’t forget ‘noisome‘ – which means obnoxious, harmful, offensive to the senses (especially the sense of smell). In other words it stinks! It is often said that demons emit bad smells. Often times the smell may smell like sulfur, rotten eggs, and/or rotten meat or flesh. Simply put, Jehovah is The God of Evil! See A King Jehovah

Lord Yahwe:
Yahwe is believed to be the the name for the Old Testament God as transliterated from the Hebrew YHWH. Old Testament scholars are well aware that the name Yahwe is not Hebrew, and must therefore have been derived by the Palestinian Israelites either from some foreign source or else from their own foreign ancestors. Yahwe was originally an Amorite deity. The god of the ancient Amorites was spelled “Yawi,” also various spellings included “Yawe,” “Yahwi,” “Yahweh,” "Yahu" or "Yam".

Yam is the name by which they, the ancients, knew of the Creator and the destoryer of the earth. Yam was the god of the sea and god of the flood. Yam is the god of the primordial chaos and represents the power of the sea, untamed and raging; he is seen as ruling storms and the disasters they wreak. The gods cast out Yam from the heavenly mountain Sappan (modern Jebel Aqra; Sappan is cognate to Tsephon). The seven-headed dragon Lotan is associated closely with him and he is often described as the serpent.

Loses Home:
When a homeowner falls behind on at least three mortgage payments, a lender will usually initiate foreclosure proceedings. The lender hires a trustee to handle the foreclosure. The trustee is charged with providing the homeowner information on the pending trustee sale (foreclosure sale) of their home. If the foreclosure auction occurs as scheduled, an opening bid for the home is posted at least a day before the auction. Trustees hire auctioneers to handle the bidding. Lenders don't allow homeowners to bid on their own houses. The winning buyer must pay the full amount of the bid by the end of the next business day. The home's new owner can then begin evicting the former owners if they are still in the home. Many homeowners have had to deal with the loss of a home due to a mortgage company's fraud, misconduct, or illegal activities. Mortgage servicing fraud occurs when a servicing company is hired by the financial institution which holds a mortgage to collect payments from the homeowners and take care of the administration of the loan. Because the financial companies are more interested in getting as much as they can out of homeowners, and the fact that simply collecting interest does not provide a huge return, servicers routinely turn to fraudulent methods of jacking up loan fees and pushing homes into foreclosure for the purpose of resale at a higher price. Predatory lending is a pejorative term used to describe unfair, deceptive, or fraudulent practices of some lenders during the loan origination process. Predatory lending typically occurs on loans backed by some kind of collateral, such as a car or house, so that if the borrower defaults on the loan, the lender can repossess or foreclose and profit by selling the repossessed or foreclosed property. Lenders may be accused of tricking a borrower into believing that an interest rate is lower than it actually is, or that the borrower's ability to pay is greater than it actually is. The lender, or others as agents of the lender, may well profit from repossession or foreclosure upon the collateral. With many homes in foreclosure, the demand for rental homes has increased.

Love Boats:
Love boats or cruise ships are passenger ships used for pleasure voyages, where the voyage itself and the ship's amenities are part of the experience. Various infections and pathogens are a problem on cruise ships. In 2002, there were 25 reported outbreaks, with 2,648 passengers becoming ill from the Norovirus. Other pathogens which are known to be a problem on board cruise ships include Legionella, the bacterium which causes Legionnaires' disease. Legionella can colonize the domestic water systems and whirlpool spas as well as cooling systems used on board. Cruise ships also generate a number of waste streams that can result in discharges to the marine environment, including sewage, gray water, hazardous wastes, oily bilge water, ballast water, and solid waste. They also emit air pollutants to the air and water. These wastes, if not properly treated and disposed of, can be a significant source of pathogens, nutrients, and toxic substances with the potential to threaten human health and damage aquatic life.

Love Changes:
"Love isn’t really love if it changes when it sees the beloved change or if it disappears when the beloved leaves. Oh no, love is a constant and unchanging light that shines on storms without being shaken; it is the star that guides every wandering boat. And like a star, its value is beyond measure, though its height can be measured. Love is not under time’s power, though time has the power to destroy rosy lips and cheeks. Love does not alter with the passage of brief hours and weeks, but lasts until Doomsday" (Shakespeare, Sonnet 116 (modern translation))

The Bible says that God is love (1 John 4:8). The Bible also says that God does not change (Mal. 3:6). Therefore love does not change. Love cannot be true if it changes for any reason. Love is supposed to be constant, through any difficulties. Love should also not fade with time; instead, true love is unchanging and it lasts forever. People don't fall in or out of love. Falling means to move downward, typically rapidly and freely without control, from a higher to a lower level. Falling can also mean committing sin or yielding to temptation as in the fall of man. When someone falls there is also a likelihood that they will get hurt. In terms of love, "falling" in love implies that the process happens rapidly, it's uncontrollable, and is in some way potentially harmful because it puts the lover in a state of vulnerability, in the same way the word "fall" is used in the phrase "to fall ill" or "to fall into a trap". Love doesn't happen quickly. That unexplainable, intense and often sudden physical draw to another person isn't love...it's lust! Unlike lust, love isn’t a feeling. Although real love is often accompanied by strong feelings. Love is a spiritual connection because God is spirit (John 4:24). Loving relationships are those which God has joined together.

Loves Death:
"But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death" (Prov. 8:36). "He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned" (Mark 16:1).

According to the Bible: "Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death" (John 8:51). The Bible teaches that some day we will have a glorified body and will enjoy God in heaven forever. Christ defeated death as proof that we, too, will live. In spite of man's wickedness and rebellion, God so loved us that He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus, to save us from our sins. "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved" (John 3:16-17).

Love Swan:
The Tunnel of Love is a type of amusement ride commonly found at carnivals and amusement parks where participants are taken by swan boats through dark passages, in pairs. It's meant to provide a relaxing environment to encouraging romance between couples.

Lucent Tech:
Lucent Technologies, Inc. was an American multinational telecommunications equipment company headquartered in Murray Hill, New Jersey, in the United States. It was established on September 30, 1996 through the divestiture of the former AT&T Technologies business unit of AT&T Corporation, which included Western Electric and Bell Labs.

Lucent was merged with Alcatel SA of France in a merger of equals on December 1, 2006, forming Alcatel-Lucent. AT&T and Lucent Technologies purchased the franchise for Mondex (See Mondex Chip).

Lucent means "light-bearing" in Latin. The name was applied in 1996 at the time of the split from AT&T.

The name was widely criticised, as the logo was to be, both internally and externally. Corporate communications and business cards included the strapline 'Bell Labs Innovations' in a bid to retain the prestige of the internationally famous research lab, within a new business under an as-yet unknown name.

This same linguistic root also gives Lucifer, "the light bearer" (from lux, 'light', and ferre, 'to bear'), who is also a character in Dante's epic poem Inferno. Shortly after the Lucent renaming in 1996, the Plan 9 project released a development of their work as the Inferno OS in 1997. This extended the 'Lucifer' and Dante references in a series of components: Inferno - Dis, Limbo, Charon and Styx.

Lucent Technologies announced its new software group Inferno, Limbo, Styx, Charon and Dis, without the approval of its marketing and advertising executives. Limbo is a programming language, Styx, a communications protocol and Dis, a virtual machine. Some experts view the choice of names as interesting and intriguing, while others warn about their negative connotations and potential impact on cultural and religious beliefs.

The most important river in hell is the Styx - the river of hate. The River Styx was a river in Greek mythology which formed the boundary between Earth and the Underworld (often called Hades which is also the name of this domain's ruler). It circles the Underworld nine times. According to Christianity, hell (also referred to as the Inferno by Italians) was the abode of Satan and the forces of evil. It is said to be the place where sinners suffer eternal punishment.

In Greek mythology, Charon is the ferryman of Hades who carries souls of the newly deceased across the rivers Styx and Acheron that divided the world of the living from the world of the dead. A coin to pay Charon for passage, usually an obolus or danake, was sometimes placed in or on the mouth of a dead person.

Limbo is a term associated in common parlance to mean some in-between state of being. It is often associated, in a religious context, with some state of being in neither heaven nor hell, therefore on the fringe of either. It has been used to refer to the abode for the dead who were neither capable of committing deadly sin (1 Jn 5:16) which excluded the soul from hell nor were baptized in water and the Holy Spirit (Jn 3:5) which excluded the soul from heaven.

The walled City of Dis (taken from Dante's Inferno) stands both for Lucifer and the lower circles of his infernal realm. This is where more serious sins are punished.

The Lucent logo, the Innovation Ring, was designed by Landor Associates, a prominent San Francisco-based branding consultancy. One source inside Lucent says that the logo is actually a Zen Buddhist symbol for "eternal truth", the Enso, turned 90 degrees and modified. Another source says it represents the mythic ouroboros, a snake holding its tail in its mouth.

Lucky Candle:
Candles have long been a part of religious and magical practice. Western occultism abounds with many magical spells to win at gambling. Most of these rituals were of Pagan origin and consequently were expressly forbidden by the Church, who seemed to have believed in their effectiveness, as much as the practitioners. Over the centuries, the Christian Church issued numerous prohibitions against gaming though all tended to be largely ignored, even by men of the cloth.

Lucky Duck:
A lucky duck is a term that was used in Wall Street Journal editorials starting on 20 November 2002 to refer to Americans who pay no federal income tax because they are at an income level that is below the tax line (after deductions and credits). The term has outlived its original use.

The term's meaning has split depending on political persuasion. For many conservatives, the term has become part of a political theory that the USA is developing an increasingly large 'moocher' class who depend on government benefits paid for by taxes from richer or harder-working citizens, pay no taxes themselves and vote themselves higher benefits paid for from the taxes of others. This has led prominent conservative politicians such as Rick Perry and Michele Bachmann to propose that poorer citizens should have their taxes increased to make them more aware of the problems of excessive taxation and so-called big government.

The term was, meanwhile immediately criticized by liberals and some conservatives for suggesting that people are 'lucky' to be so poor that they are not eligible to pay tax.

Lucrative:
Producing money, wealth, or riches.

Lustful:
"And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire" (Mark 9:47).

Someone who is driven by lust is lustful. Lust is an inordinate craving for sexual intercourse often to the point of assuming a self-indulgent, and sometimes violent character. Lust, or an immoderate desire for the flesh of another (outside of matrimony), is considered a sin, or impure act.

Lynchings:
The general meaning is an execution by a mob. It is most often associated with the ritual murder of Blacks, especially by hanging, to maintain white supremacy through the use of terrorism. It is based on the tradition of Lynch Laws that allowed the administration of justice without resorting to the inefficiencies of the legal system. The Census Bureau estimates that 4,742 lynchings took place between 1882 and 1968. Between 1882 and 1930, some 2,828 people were lynched in the South; 585 in the West; and 260 in the Midwest. That means that between 1880 and 1930, a black Southerner died at the hands of a white mob more than twice a week. Most of the victims of lynching were African American males. However, some were female, and a small number were Italian, Chinese, or Jewish. Mobs lynched 447 non-blacks in the West, 181 non-African Americas in the Midwest, and 291 in the South. The hangings of white victims rarely included mutilation. A lynching was usually a festive community activity and real photo postcards were often made as souvenirs. People sent the cards with inscriptions like: "You missed a good time" or "This is the barbeque we had last night." In 1912 Congress ordered the Post Office Department to prohibit the mailing of postcards depicting lynching, while refusing to pass legislation making it a crime.

Lynch Mobs:
A crowd of nearly 2,000 people gathered in Georgia in 1899 to witness the lynching of Sam Holt, an African American farm laborer charged with killing his white employer. A newspaper described the scene: Sam Holt...was burned at the stake in a public road.... Before the torch was applied to the pyre, the Negro was deprived of his ears, fingers, and other portions of his body.... Before the body was cool, it was cut to pieces, the bones were crushed into small bits, and even the tree upon which the wretch met his fate were torn up and disposed of as souvenirs. The Negro's heart was cut in small pieces, as was also his liver. Those unable to obtain the ghastly relics directly paid more fortunate possessors extravagant sums for them. Small pieces of bone went for 25 cents and a bit of liver, crisply cooked, for 10 cents.

From 1889 to 1918, more than 2,400 African Americans were hanged or burned at the stake. Many lynching victims were accused of little more than making "boastful remarks," "insulting a white man," or seeking employment "out of place." They were hanged from trees, bridges, and telephone poles. Victims were often tortured and mutilated before death: burned alive, castrated, and dismembered. Their teeth, fingers, ashes, clothes, and sexual organs were sold as keepsakes. Lynch mobs could swell to 15,000 people. Tickets were sold to lynchings. A total of 744 blacks were lynched during the 1890s. The last officially recorded lynching in the United States occurred in 1968. However, many consider the 1998 death of James Byrd in Jasper, Texas, at the hands of three whites who hauled him behind their pick-up truck with a chain, a later instance.
