666 Words Q - R

Quarrels:
A verbal dispute or heated argument; A ground of dispute; a complaint; To disagree; To contend, argue strongly, squabble; To find fault; To complain bitterly

Queer Parade:
Pride parades for the LGBT community (also known as gay pride parades, pride events and pride festivals) are events celebrating lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender, (LGBT) culture.

Large parades often involve floats, dancers, drag queens, and amplified music; but even such celebratory parades usually include political and educational contingents, such as local politicians and marching groups from LGBT institutions of various kinds. Other typical parade participants include local LGBT-friendly churches such as Metropolitan Community Churches and Unitarian Universalist Churches, Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG), and LGBT employee associations from large businesses.

Quick Meals:
Quick meals or fast food is food that can be prepared quickly and easily and is sold in restaurants and snack bars as a meal-on-the-go or to be taken out.

While any meal with low preparation time can be considered to be fast food, typically the term refers to food sold in a restaurant or store with preheated or precooked ingredients, and served to the customer in a packaged form for take-out/take-away.

Common menu items at fast food outlets include fish and chips, sandwiches, pitas, hamburgers, fried chicken, french fries, onion rings, chicken nuggets, tacos, pizza, hot dogs, and ice cream, though many fast food restaurants offer "slower" foods like chili, mashed potatoes, and salads.

Fast food chains have come under criticism over concerns ranging from claimed negative health effects, alleged animal cruelty, cases of worker exploitation, and claims of cultural degradation via shifts in people's eating patterns away from traditional foods.

Racist Joke:
"There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus" (Gal.3:28). "Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment" (John 7:24).

A racist joke or ethnic joke is a humorous remark relating to an ethnic, racial or cultural group, often referring to a stereotype of the group in question for its punchline. Racist jokes are often considered to be offensive and as a form of hate speech. As public awareness of racism has increased, racial and ethnic jokes have become increasingly socially unacceptable in recent years, and have become socially taboo to tell in public in many regions. This can however, depend on who is telling the joke. For example, it may be deemed offensive for a white person to make a joke about Asians, whereas it would be more acceptable for an Asian to make a similar joke about their own culture, or an Asian make a joke about white people can be variously funny or offending to some extent.

Racist jokes are not amusing (See Amusement). The Bible teaches, "we are to love our neighbors as ourselves" (James 2:8). Jesus teaches in Matthew 25 that whatever we do to the least of His brothers, we do to Him. If we treat a person with contempt, we are mistreating a person created in God’s image; we are hurting somebody whom God loves and for whom Jesus died.

Radio Dishes:
A radio telescope is a form of directional radio antenna used in radio astronomy. The same types of antennas are also used in tracking and collecting data from satellites and space probes. In their astronomical role they differ from optical telescopes in that they operate in the radio frequency portion of the electromagnetic spectrum where they can detect and collect data on radio sources. Radio telescopes are typically large parabolic ("dish") antennas used singly or in an array.

It is generally assumed that radio is a more suitable means of extraterrestrial communication. Radio waves are less affected by cosmic dust than visible light, and there is less of a radio background to deal with in the sky.

Two of radio's pioneers showed interest in interplanetary radio communication. In 1901, Nikola Tesla reported receiving a strange signal, possibly from Mars, on his giant transmitting tower in Colorado Springs. Nineteen years later, Guglielmo Marconi told reporters about his detection of radio emissions that appeared to come from outer space.

As late as the 1920s, many people (including Albert Einstein) still considered visual-based communication more practical, since radio transmitters were not yet capable of focusing a beam on a distant planet.

It wasn't until 1959 that radio-based SETI started to be taken seriously. In that year, Giuseppe Cocconi and Philip Morrison showed that radar transmitters of the time were already powerful enough to send signals many light years through space. In the year that followed, Frank Drake performed Project Ozma, the first radio sky survey to look for intelligent signals.

And then in 1974 - a century and half after Gauss - Drake transmitted the first actual SETI message using the Arecibo radio telescope. Scientists are still waiting for a response.

Rael's Cult:
Claude Maurice Marcel Vorilhon (born 30 September 1946 in Vichy, Allier, France) is the founder and current leader of the UFO religion known as Raelism. Following what he said was an extraterrestrial encounter in December 1973, he formed the Raelian Movement and changed his name to Rael (allegedly meaning "messenger of the elohim"). According to Vorilhon, in a secluded area within a French volcanic crater, an extraterrestrial being came out of a craft that had descended gently from the sky, and told him, in French, that he had come for the sole purpose of meeting with him. Vorilhon said that he was given a message by this alien and told that it was his mission to pass this message on to the people of Earth.

The message states that advanced human scientists from another planet with 25,000 years of scientific advances created all life on Earth through DNA manipulation. "We were created by people who came from outer space. They looked like human beings," he said of the extraterrestrials he claims to have encountered. "We are the fruit of (their) experimentation. They created us in their image, just like the Bible says." These advanced human scientists, Vorilhon said, were originally called Elohim or "those who came from the sky". He wrote that some forty prophets in Earth's history were sent by Elohim, but their messages were distorted by humans, largely because of the difference in the level of civilization between the advanced race and Earth's primitive one.

Vorilhon said he was given the mission of informing the world of humanity's origins in anticipation of the return of these extraterrestrials by building a residential embassy in neutral territory. He stated that certain mysteries were explained to him based on new interpretations of sacred texts such as the Bible. He said that, on 7 October 1975, he was contacted by one of the Elohim, who took him to another planet to meet Buddha, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad. He stated that his book, Les extra-terrestres m'ont emmené sur leur planète ("Extraterrestrials Took Me To Their Planet"), relates the teaching he received from these people. In this book, Vorhilhon describes harmonious and peaceable beings, who were free of money, sickness, and war. He later published several books, which detail his claims of an encounter with a being called Yahweh in 1973.

The group claims 55,000 devotees worldwide and operates its own theme park, UFOland, near Montreal.

Rahm Emanuel:
Rahm Emanuel is the White House Chief of Staff. Prior to joining President Barack H. Obama's administration, Emanuel served in the House of Representatives, representing the fifth district of Illinois, and was Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus. As an advocate for Chicago's working families, Emanuel served on the House Ways and Means Committee, which oversees taxes, trade, Social Security, and Medicare issues.

Rapa Nui Cave:
The Rapa Nui are the native Polynesian inhabitants of Easter Island, or Rapa Nui, in the Pacific Ocean.

Ana Kai Tangata is a cave on Easter Island. Its name has led to various speculations due to the different translations. On one hand, Ana, means “cave”; Tangata, means “man”; and Kai, means “to eat” in modern  Rapa Nui. For which, the cave is referred to as “the cave of the cannibals” or of the “man-heaters”.

It has even been suggested that the name means the cave that eats men because they disappear into its black mouth.

Rape Advocate:
Rape advocates believe that women are to blame for being raped. Some suggest that women even deserve to be raped for the way they behave or dress. While the Bible does instruct women to dress modestly (1 Timothy 2:8), no where does it say they should be raped if they don’t.

The Bible condemns rape whenever it is mentioned. For example, there is a particular passage in the laws given to the nation of Israel before entering the Promised Land under Joshua’s leadership. This passage (Deuteronomy 22:13-29) spoke directly against forcing a woman into a sexual encounter against her will, or what we know today as rape. This command was meant to protect women and to protect the nation of Israel from committing sinful actions. As expected, whenever the Bible mentions the crime of rape, it is depicted as a gross violation of God’s design for the treatment of the human body (Genesis 34).

Raw Apples:
The round fruit of a tree of the rose family, which typically has thin red or green skin and crisp flesh. Raw apples are unfiltered, unheated and unpasteurized.

Rebel Archangel:
Lucifer the rebel archangel whose fall from heaven was supposed to be referred to in Isaiah 14:12: "How thou art fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken nations!"

Rebel Knight:
Texas organization of Ku Klux Klan members. Ku Klux Klan (KKK), informally known as The Klan, is the name of several past and present hate group organizations in the United States whose avowed purpose was to protect the rights of and further the interests of white Americans by violence and intimidation. They developed iconic white costumes consisting of robes, masks, and conical hats. The KKK has a record of using terrorism, violence, and lynching to murder and oppress African Americans, Jews and other minorities and to intimidate and oppose Roman Catholics and labor unions.

They claim to be a Christian organization that stands for the preservation, protection, and advancement of the White, Caucasian, Anglo Saxon, Aryan Race. A number of small, extremely conservative Fundamentalist Christian denominations have grafted racist, sexist, anti-communist and religious intolerance into the religion. They view the Jewish people as descendants of Satan. Followers tend to be involved in political movements opposing gun control, equal rights, and militia movements.

These views directly oppose Christian teachings. These groups misinterpret biblical scripture or twist it to fit their own views or agendas. For instance the bible states: "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people. Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you" (2 Cor. 14-16).

This verse is about relationships or alliances that are counterproductive to the Christian faith. This passage says that we are not to "yoke ourselves with" that is get into partnerships or close friendships with unbelievers. Many Christians try to keep company with people who are sexually immoral, drunken, blasphemous, liars, etcetera and the pressure from these relationships soon draws them away from their relationship with Christ. God wants you to recognize bad company - and avoid it. Many extreme Fundamentalist Christian denominations have taken this passage out of context.

Simply because God wants us to avoid relationships that may cause a conflict in our faith, does NOT mean that God condones discriminatory or violent behaviors against others. Putting distance between yourself and the person does not mean an entire rejection of their personality. You are not to hate anyone. You are to love them with a cautious and wise love that refuses to get involved beyond the boundaries set by God. Love of God and love of neighbor are the two great commandments. They are repeated dozens of times in the Scriptures e.g. (1 John 3:17 KJV) "But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?"

The Lord instructs us to love thy neighbor. The bible states: "And Jesus answered him, The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. And the second is like, namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these" (Mark 12:29-31). See Lynchings. Rebellions:
Rebellion is a refusal of obedience. "What is more pleasing to the LORD: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Obedience is far better than sacrifice. Listening to him is much better than offering the fat of rams. Rebellion is as bad as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as bad as worshiping idols" (1 Samuel 15:22-23). See Stubborn

Red Colour:
Red is used as a symbol of guilt, sin and anger, often as connected with blood or sex. According to Isaiah: "Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be white as snow" (Is.1:18). In Christianity, Satan is usually depicted as colored red and/or wearing a red costume in both iconography and popular culture. The color red is associated with lust, passion, love, and beauty as well. At one point, red was associated with prostitutes, or now, with brothels (red-light districts).

On a physical level it has been shown that the effect of exposure to pure red light is stimulating. There is an increase in heart rate, respiration and blood pressure. Red light has an exciting effect on the nervous system, especially the sympathetic branch of the autonomic nervous system. According to the Journal of Experimental Psychology: The effect of red on people is so strong and embedded so deeply that people are predisposed to certain reactions when they see red. The fast food industry has used color for years as a means of drawing in customers. Red is often used in restaurant decorating schemes because it is an appetite stimulant. According to the color theory, red is known to subconsciously trigger hunger and/or induce excitement. It also stimulates buying action. This color encourages guests to spend more and leave quickly– which is exactly what fast food restaurants want you to do. Research has shown that people eat more in a room with warm colour surroundings as opposed to consuming food in a room painted in cold colours such as blue, black, or purple. As a matter of fact, studies have shown that these colours actually suppress appetite because they are associated with foods that may have become spoiled or foods that may be toxic.

Red Fire Balls:
The Naga fireballs are a phenomenon seen in the Mekong River in Thailand (Nong Khai province and Isan) and in Laos, in which glowing balls rise from depths. Every year, for 2 days in October (that correspond with a Buddhist holy day) red globe like projectiles come up out of the water and disappear. The balls are reddish in color and about the size of an egg; they rise a couple of hundred meters before disappearing. The number of fireballs is variable, being reported at between tens and thousands per night.

The people believe the projectiles come from a dragon or dragons in the river. This is where one of the villages in our area gets the name: City Of The Chief Dragon. Thai people, especially the locals, worship and are very proud of their dragon.

Red Hot Chili:
Chili peppers are used around the world to make a countless variety of sauces, known as hot sauce, chile sauce, or pepper sauce. A high consumption of chili may be associated with stomach cancer. Chili powders may sometimes be adulterated with Sudan I, II, III, IV, para-Red, and other illegal carcinogenic dyes. Aflatoxins and N-nitroso compounds, which are carcinogenic, are frequently found in chili powder. Chronic ingestion of chili products may induce gastroesophageal reflux (GERD). Chili may increase the number of daily bowel movements and lower pain thresholds for people with irritable bowel syndrome. Chili peppers should never be swallowed whole; there are cases where unchewed chili peppers have caused bowel obstruction and perforation.

Red Sea Dragon:
"And there appeared another wonder in heaven; and behold a great red dragon, having seven heads and ten horns, and seven crowns upon his heads" (Rev. 12:3).

Chapter 12 of the Book of Revelation describes an extremely vicious and cruel red dragon. This red dragon and its followers wage a war against heaven.

Could also refer to a dragon possibly originating from the Red Sea. Revelation calls the Antichrist the Beast out of the Sea. In Isaiah, the Antichrist is called "the Assyrian". There are no Assyrians now, but the Antichrist will rule the area once known as Assyria. Today that region is known as the Middle East. The countries that make up Assyria are Israel, part of Egypt, part of Saudi Arabia, Iraq, Jordan, Syria, Lebanon, and part of Turkey.

Red States:
Red states refer to those states of the United States whose residents predominantly vote for the Republican Party (red). This terminology came into use in the United States presidential election of 2000 on an episode of the Today show on October 30, 2000. According to AlterNet and The Washington Post, the terms were coined by journalist Tim Russert, during his televised coverage of the 2000 presidential election. That was not the first election during which the news media used colored maps to graphically depict voter preferences in the various states, but it was the first time a standard color scheme took hold; the colors were often reversed or different colors used before the 2000 election. Since 2000, usage of the term has been expanded to differentiate between states being perceived as liberal and those perceived as conservative. This reverses a long-standing convention, where the red symbols (such as the Red Flag or Red Star) are associated with Socialist and revolutionary movements, and conservative movements often choose blue as a contrasting color.

There is an overlap between today’s Republican states and the slave states of the former Confederacy. The core of today’s Democratic party consists of the states of New England and the Great Lakes/Midatlantic region that were the heart of the Union effort during the  Civil War.  The core of today’s Republican party consists of the states that seceded from the United States and formed the Confederate States of America. Don’t be misled by the contemporary red state-blue state map which makes the mostly-red Prairie/Mountain states look as important in the Republican coalition as the South.  A cartogram which shows states by population is far more accurate. In terms of population and votes the South vastly outweighs the thinly-populated Prairie/Mountain states, even though the latter get disproportionate representation in the U.S.

Refuse A Chip:
“He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name” (Rev. 13:16-17).

Those who refuse to get the mark of the beast will not be allowed to buy anything or to sell anything. They will not be able to buy food, medicine, water, fuel, clothes, etcetera. This will most likely result in homelessness and starvation.

Those who refuse to get the mark of beast will also be killed: "I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony for Jesus and because of the word of God. They had not worshiped the beast or his image and had not received his mark on their foreheads or their hands" (Rev. 20:4).

Many will accept the chip (See Accept Hand Chip) out of fear of what will happen if they refuse. God issues a warning to those who accept the chip: "If anyone WORSHIP the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand, that person will drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of his indignation; and he will be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb: And the smoke of their torment ascend sup forever and ever: and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name. Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus" (Revelation 14:9-12). The consequences of accepting the chip far outweigh the punishments of refusing the chip. Just say NO to RFID.

Refuse RFID:
Radio-frequency identification (RFID) is the use of an object (typically referred to as an RFID tag) applied to or incorporated into a product, animal, or person for the purpose of identification and tracking using radio waves. Some tags can be read from several meters away and beyond the line of sight of the reader.

Most RFID tags contain at least two parts. One is an integrated circuit for storing and processing information, modulating and demodulating a radio-frequency (RF) signal, and other specialized functions. The second is an antenna for receiving and transmitting the signal.

The PositiveID Corporation (previously known as The VeriChip Corporation; Applied Digital Solutions, Inc.; and The Digital Angel Corporation) distribute the implantable chip known as the VeriChip. Each VeriChip implant contains a 16-digit ID number. This number is transmitted when a hand-held VeriChip scanner is passed within a few inches of the implant. See Refuse A Chip

Relatives:
Relatives share a genealogical origin, through either biological, cultural, or historical descent. A descent group is a social group whose members claim common ancestry. Primates are believed to be man's closest genetic relatives. See Ape Descendant

Repenteth:
The word repent means to turn away from sin. According to the Bible: "The LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them" (Gen.6:7).

In this instance, repenteth does not mean "to turn away from sins". God does not need to repent. In the above verse, you feel the disgust in God's words when he talks about the man that he created. God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth and that his every thought was evil. The man that he created no longer brought him joy, but heartache and pain.

In another instance, the word "repenteth" is used to represent God's feelings of disgust. In the the Bible God says: "It repenteth me that I have set up Saul to be king: for he is turned back from following me, and hath not performed my commandments. And it grieved Samuel; and he cried unto the LORD all night" (1Sam.15:11).

Reptilian CD:
Reptilian is the name of a heavy metal band from the south of Sweden. The band started their musical career in 1999 and consists of Joel Linder (drums, ex Majestic), Jonas Blum (vocals, ex-Majestic), Jonas Reingold (bass, also Flowerkings and Midnight Sun), Thomas Blum (keyboards) and Peter Espinoza( guitar, ex- Nasty Idols) and Lasse Boquist (guitars).

After Joel and Jonas Blum quit in Majestic they immediately decided to continue their careers under the banner of Reptilian. It didn’t take long until they had a complete line up and a record deal with Regain, and in March 2000 they went into Berno studio to record their debut. Five weeks later they had recorded "Castle of yesterday."

Their latest effort, "Thunderblaze", was recorded in early 2002, and some of the tracks include:
Knight of Hades
Madman City
Watching Hell from Above
In My Zombie Sleep

Retinal I.D.'s:
Retinal identification (RI) is an automatic method that provides true identification of the person by acquiring an internal body image, the retina/choroid of a willing person who must cooperate in a way that would be difficult to counterfeit. RI has found application in very high security environments (nuclear research and weapons sites, communications control facilities and a very large transaction processing center).

Revolts:
To revolt means to make revolution. A revolution is a fundamental change in power or organizational structures that takes place in a relatively short period of time. In recent times, citizens in countries like Egypt, Yemen, Algeria, Sudan, etc. See Rebellions

RFID Bodytag:
Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) bodytag is a passive, wearable electrostatic tag. The wearable tag exploits the human body’s natural ability to guide electric fields, and allows the wearer to present tags to tag readers through natural motions such as the grasp of a doorknob or the push of a button. The tag and reader imbue the user’s physical gesture with digital meaning. It is a wearable credit-card sized device that can compute as well as store, transmit, and receive information. Wearable means a tag that can be embedded into one’s clothing, shoes, or other body-borne items.

RFID Cancer Mice:
A series of veterinary and toxicology studies, dating to the mid-1990s, found that radio frequency identification, or RFID, devices had "induced" malignant tumors in some lab mice and rats. Published in veterinary and toxicology journals between 1996 and 2006, the studies found that lab mice and rats injected with microchips sometimes developed subcutaneous "sarcomas" _ malignant tumors, most of them encasing the implants. A 1998 study in Ridgefield, Conn., of 177 mice reported cancer incidence to be slightly higher than 10 percent. In 1997, a study in Germany found cancers in 1 percent of 4,279 chipped mice. The tumors "are clearly due to the implanted microchips," the authors wrote. A 2006 study in France detected tumors in 4.1 percent of 1,260 microchipped mice.

RFID Scanner:
RFID is Radio Frequency IDentification. It is an automatic 'radio tagging' identification technology whereby digital data encoded in an RFID tag or “smart label” is captured by a reader using radio waves.

RFID is similar to barcode technology but uses radio waves to capture data from labels (tags), rather than optically scanning the bar codes on a label. An RFID scanner does not require the tag or label to be seen to be able to read its stored data, but a label may be printed with a barcode and other text.

Risk Play:
The act of playing for stakes in the hope of winning (including the payment of a price for a chance to win a prize. Any sort of game that involves wagering or betting money.

Types of Risk Play:
Casino Games
Card Games
Carnival Games
Dice Games
Bingo
Keno
State Lotteries

River Rat:
The coypu also known as the river rat or nutria, is a large, herbivorous, semi-aquatic rodent and the only member of the family Myocastoridae. Originally native to subtropical and temperate South America, it has since been introduced to North America, Europe, Asia, and Africa, primarily by fur ranchers. Although it is still valued for its fur in some regions, its destructive feeding and burrowing behaviors make this invasive species a pest throughout most of its range.

Coypu are pests in many areas, destroying aquatic vegetation, marshes, and irrigation systems, and chewing through human-made items, such as tires and wooden house paneling in Louisiana, eroding river banks, and displacing native animals.

Coypus were introduced to the Louisiana ecosystem in the 1930s, when they escaped from fur farms that had imported them from South America. Damage in Louisiana has been sufficiently severe since the 1950s to warrant legislative attention; in 1958, the first bounty was placed on nutria, though this effort was not funded. By the early 2000s, the Coastwide Nutria Control Program (CNCP) was established, which began paying bounties for nutria killed in 2002. In the Chesapeake Bay region in Maryland, where they were introduced in the 1940s, coypus are believed to have destroyed 7,000 to 8,000 acres (2,800 to 3,200 ha) of marshland in the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge. In response, by 2003, a multi-million dollar eradication program was underway.

In addition to direct environmental damage, coypus are the host for a nematode parasite (Strongyloides myopotami) that can infect the skin of humans, causing dermatitis similar to strongyloidiasis. The condition is also called "nutria itch".

Robot Cars:
Robot cars, autonomous cars, driverless cars, or self-driving cars are vehicles that are capable of sensing their environment and navigating without human input.

Robot cars detect surroundings using radar, lidar, GPS, Odometry, and computer vision. Advanced control systems interpret sensory information to identify appropriate navigation paths, as well as obstacles and relevant signage. Robot cars have control systems that are capable of analyzing sensory data to distinguish between different cars on the road.

In spite of the various benefits of using robot cars, there are many foreseeable dangers. For instance if a complex situation arises that requires manual driving there will be inexperienced drivers in the car. Robot cars will also lead to job loss for professional drivers. There will be a loss of privacy due to sharing of information through V2V (Vehicle to Vehicle) and V2I (Vehicle to Infrastructure) protocols. Robot cars could potentially be loaded with explosives and used as bombs.

Robot NICO:
A robot called Nico has taken a step towards self-awareness by recognizing itself in a mirror. Such self-awareness would represent a step towards the ultimate goal of thinking robots. Programming a robot to have self-awareness is considered to be one of the key milestones to creating robots that are truly useful in everyday life. Robots that "live" in people's homes for example, would have to have a very good understanding of where every part of itself is and what it's doing in order to prevent causing accidental harm to housemates.

In the movie "Terminator", Skynet is an artificial intelligence system which becomes self-aware. Once military operators realized the extent of its abilities, they tried to deactivate it. Skynet perceived this as an attack and came to the conclusion that all humanity should be destroyed.

With the development of the robot NICO, could Skynet become a reality in the future?

Rodeo Rider:
Rodeo is a sport which arose out of the working practices of cattle herding in Spain, Mexico, and later the United States, Canada, South America and Australia. A rodeo rider or cowboy is a performer who gives exhibitions of riding and roping and bulldogging. Professional rodeos generally comprise the following events: tie-down roping, team roping, steer wrestling, saddle bronc riding, bareback bronc riding, bull riding and barrel racing.

Rodeo has provoked opposition from animal rights and animal welfare advocates, who argue that various competitions constitute animal cruelty. Charges that rodeos are cruel to the animals involved are not new, and some practices justly warranted scrutiny.

Flank straps are used in rodeo contests. A flank strap is used for making a bull buck. While a horse may buck for fun, rodeo horses buck uncontrollably from torment. The flank strap is tightened painfully around the horse’s sensitive flank area as the chute gate is opened. The horse bucks in a futile attempt to escape the discomfort. Rodeo horses do not stop bucking when they have thrown their rider, but only once the irritating strap is loosened. The strap can cause bloody and painful open wounds which investigators have found at virtually every rodeo. Bucking events cannot be held without this strap.

Advocates for rodeo state that the flank strap has to be an incentive to an animal that already wants to buck off a rider, not a prod, or the animal will either flee the pain, not buck, quickly sour and refuse to work, regardless of any pain that might be inflicted.

In response to growing concerns, a number of cities and states, mostly in the eastern half of the United States, have passed ordinances and laws governing rodeo. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, for example, specifically prohibits electric prods or shocking devices, flank or bucking straps, wire tie-downs, and sharpened or fixed spurs or rowels. Pittsburgh also requires humane officers be provided access to any and all areas where animals may go—specifically pens, chutes, and injury pens.

Rubella Pain:
Rubella is a viral illness. Rubella symptoms can include joint pain — especially among adult females.

Rubik's Cube:
The Rubik's Cube is a 3-D mechanical puzzle invented in 1974. It was originally called the "Magic Cube". In mathematics, a magic cube is the 3-dimensional equivalent of a magic square. Prior to the 16th century, Satan was represented by a magic square or a Baphomet. The total of the 6x6 magic square is 666:

Here, every number between 1 and 36 is used. All columns and rows (and the two diagonals) add to 111. The total of all rows (or all columns) is thus “666”! Which also says that 1+2+3+4+...+36 = 666! The "magic square of the sun," (shown to the left) was one of the most important symbols used to represent the sun in antiquity, because of all the symbolism involving the “perfect” number "6." Six is considered to be the first “perfect” number, as it is equal to the sum of its divisors other than itself (1 + 2 + 3 = 6). The Bible mentions that man was created on the sixth day. Magic squares get their name from the belief that they possess magical powers. People in various cultures wear them around their necks as talismans. The square is "magic" because the sum of any row, column, or diagonal was uniquely equal to the number "111," and that the sum of the numbers from 1-36 added to 666.

The numerical symmetries in “magic squares” symbolized a form of hidden knowledge to priests and mystics in many ancient cultures. There may be a hidden science of which we are unaware which magic squares describe, even when the mathematicians have exhaustively delved into the subject, thinking of it as no more than a mental exercise. We may have become adept at manipulating magic squares and constructing them, but are they actually understood?
